Well a St. Thomas organization certainly STIRred things up with their big announcement last week of a contest for a free factory for a year. This is a great community economic development promising new jobs and investment in the next year. But I am equally excited by other development across Elgin County that promise new opportunities over the next year.

From the far reaches of West Elgin the new Seaside Development in Port Glascow is continuing. Planning and building a whole ‘Scottish seaside’ village is not a small undertaking but each day brings us closer to the reality this is really going to happen. To the other end of the County where the submarine, Ojibwa is promising to be the biggest spectacle this coming summer. Imagine the crowds that will be on hand to witness the first stage in the development of a naval museum in the village of Port Burwell. And filling out the centre of these great initiatives we have the Elgin Innovation Centre in Aylmer (the re-development of the old Imperial tobacco buildings), the building of the new ICE (Innovation Centre for Entrepreneurs), the renewal of the CASO and Elgin County Railway Museum all in St. Thomas.

Wow talk about STIRRING things up all across the County this year looks to be very exciting.
