Jim was raised on a farm in the Dorchester area before graduating from the Ontario Agricultural College. Then, he spent 12 years in Ottawa working for Agriculture Canada before moving in 1981 to St. Thomas, with Lynda and two children (Sherry and Shawn), to take up a management role with Quality Swine Co-op in Shedden. Following an 18 year career as General Manager, Jim was hired by the Indian Agricultural Program of Ontario as a Business Support Officer working with the Native farmers on First Nations Reserves in Southern Ontario until his retirement in 2012. Jim was elected as Elgin Business Resource Centre (EBRC) Director in March 2011 and he became President of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors in June 2015. Also, he has been serving on EBRC Loans, Governance and Audit committees since July 2012. Currently, Jim is completing a final 3rd term of the Board of Governors of Western Fair Association (WFA) and has chaired the WFA Governance/Membership committee since 2013. Also, he has served as Vice Chair of the WFA Raceway Inc. for the past two years. Jim presently serves as Board member and Finance Chair of the New Vision Community (United) Church in St. Thomas.
Helen has been a strong member in the community as a part of many organizations including Past Chairman of the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation, and Past President and campaign volunteer for the Elgin St. Thomas United Way. Having been a part of many other boards as an executive member, Helen received the “Woman of Distinction” award in 1996 for Elgin County and was honoured with the “Order of Ontario” in 2001 for her community involvement. Helen also received the “Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee” award in 2013. In her professional life, Helen spent 38 years with Scotiabank before retiring as the St. Thomas Branch Manager. Presently, she is working alongside her husband Richard in real estate sales for Remax Centre City Realty Inc. Helen continues to attend regional and national conferences for the EBRC while completing training modules on an on-going basis.
As a member of the St. Thomas community for the past 20 years Warren is active in his community with his wife Sandra and 2 children through a variety of sports, business and community programs.
A retired farmer and a graduate of the University of Guelph, Mike has served as a Director with the Elgin Business Resource Centre (CFDC) Board since March 2005. He has been on a number of committees within the board, including Audit, Loans, Governance and Community Economic Development, as well as Chairman and Past Chairman. Too, he was elected to the Ontario Association Community Futures Development Program (OACFDC) in June 2012 and is currently serving as the representative for the South West Region #6. In other board work, Mike was a member of the board of Westminster Mutual Insurance for twenty-one years, serving as Chair on three separate occasions and representing the company as a Legislative Affairs member for the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association. As well, Mike is involved in his local community as a life member of the Kinsmen Club of Aylmer, Treasurer of the Ducks Unlimited Committee in Aylmer, volunteer with United Way and Heart & Stroke, and Coach in the Minor Hockey and Minor Basketball leagues. Mike is married to Brenda and they have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
Hetty is an Elgin County native and has owned and operated Silverthorn Landscape Supplies since 1988. Previous work experiences include farming in both the poultry and mushroom industries and police officer for Waterloo Regional Police Force. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in commercial and administrative studies. Hetty’s volunteer experience includes President of the St. Thomas Executive Association and Past Director of Business and Professional Women of London. Today, Hetty is a member of the St. Thomas & District Chamber of Commerce, Landscape Ontario, and Canadian Nursery Landscape Association.
Scott holds a Diploma in Customs and Immigration from Niagara College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Brock University. He is continuing his studies at Nipissing University pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce. Scott has a strong background in international logistics and supply chain management from working at two Canadian borders and for a large manufacturing company for the past 7 years in both their customs and transportation department and currently in subcontracts management, working with a variety of North American and International suppliers. Scott’s expertise also includes proprietary data, government contracting, and trade compliance.

Ross Fair has been the Chair of the Fanshawe College St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus for the past two and one half years, following a long career as an executive in a variety of public sector postings. His mandate from the College is to innovate and respond quickly to changing labour market needs to ensure that the Campus is supplying graduates that meet these needs.

Lisa Johnston – Youth Director
Lisa is currently enrolled at the University of Western Ontario studying Business and Financial Economics. With a strong background in customer service, Lisa has experience working in seasonal, small and corporate business settings. As a junior member of the board, she is able to participate in all aspects of business decision making and have the opportunity to expand her knowledge base in the field of business.
